MACMC: The band has been in the studio recording a new CD. What can you tell us about it?

LM: The band went into the studio in late spring of 2004, working the studio sessions around show dates. Most of the material was written during those studio sessions. The CD will contain 10 original songs. We wanted to break the rules a little when it came to style, so the CD will contain a diverse collection of songs. I guess the best way to sum up the style is ... its "Lucas McCain".
One of the songs "Home On Their Mind" is already getting airplay on WKGA 97.3 FM, Dadeville, AL.

MACMC: How long has Lucas McCain performed?

LM: Lucas McCain formed in 1995 and has progressed through several lineup changes over the years. These changes “grew” the band into what it is today. We feel that the current lineup best defines the Lucas McCain sound.

MACMC: Besides country and southern rock, what other genres do you play?

LM: We also play Modern Country, Modern and Classic Rock as well as original material. Each member of the band comes from a wide variety of influences, which, when blended together, gives us a unique style.

MACMC: Tell us a little something about each member of the band.

LM:
Joey Ray: Lead Vox, Rhythm Guitar
Joey is the founding member of Lucas McCain. His influences are deeply rooted in Country and Southern Rock. Joey is also a skilled craftsman. Take a close look at the guitar that Joey plays on stage... he built that guitar by hand.

Don Hogue: Lead Guitar, Backing Vox
Don joined Lucas McCain May of 2004. He is from CT and came to Atlanta via San Diego. During the 1980's, he toured with a Christian rock band called "CrossTalk."(The drummer for CrossTalk has a son that is the drummer for P.O.D.) Don and CrossTalk toured with "WhiteCross." Don's guitar style is influenced by David Gilmore and Neal Schon.

MACMC: Name some of the stars that the group has had the pleasure opening for and/or playing alongside.

LM: The band has opened for "Brian McComas", "Derek St. Holmes", "Buddy Jewel" and "Mother's Finest".

MACMC: Is there any particular event or venue that you would like to perform at one day? LM: Central Park would be nice. We would also love to opportunity to entertain our American Troops overseas.

MACMC: Is there anything else that you would like to share about the band?

LM: We are just a bunch of guys that love music and love to play. We would like to say "Thanks" to you and MACMC for what you do for all North GA artists. We would also like to thank some other people that do so much for the band; Our families, Herschel Horton (Our personal and business manager / photographer / videographer, etc...), our lighting technician; Gihan Jayasundera., Vicki (for finding Chuck for us) and others too numerous to mention. And most of all, we would like to thank each and every person that comes out so see us perform. THANK YOU! It is because of you that we do what we do!
